Blessings to all!

Holy Week (March 31, 2020)

PALM SUNDAY:  The Diocese stated that the distribution of palms is to be discontinued for this year. The distribution of palm risks the spread of the coronavirus. If one person who has the virus even touches some of the palm which someone else will take, the risk of spreading the virus exists. The risk is too high as the virus is very contagious.

FOOD BLESSING: Many of the faithful have strong ethnic ties and devotion to the Blessing of Easter Baskets. The Blessing of Easter Baskets is not to be done in Church or in parking lots for this year.

LIVESTREAM ON FACEBOOK: Father Don will livestream the Blessing of Food on Facebook  Holy Saturday at 12 Noon. Tune in for the blessing of the festive Easter foods. Strive as best you can to celebrate the joy of Easter within the intimate settings of your homes and your family.

As of March 30, 2020

(NB: All info is subject to change as per directives from civil and Church officials. Updated information will also be posted on the parish Facebook page.)

LITURGY INFORMATION

All public liturgies remain suspended until further notice. This includes all Holy Week and Easter celebrations.
PALM SUNDAY: Current restrictions forbid the distribution of palm this weekend as it could become a vehicle to help spread the virus with many hands touching the palm. Therefore, no palm will be available this year. Instead, consider cutting a branch from a shrub or tree and display it on your door or in your home instead. Consider using the bright forsythia currently in bloom.

St. Mary Hamburg Parish

Thank you for visiting our website

We hope this site will help you to learn more about our faith community.

St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Parish serves the community and surrounding areas of Hamburg, Pennsylvania, a rural town situated on the banks of the Schuylkill River in the beautiful Blue Mountain chain.

The beginning of the new millennium brought with it the dedication of our new church, a modern, handicap-accessible building situated on a hilltop just west of town. The original church, dedicated by St. John Neumann in 1854, was no longer adequate for our growing faith community. Since the construction of the new church in 2000, the parish has been blessed with the ongoing development of our parish campus situated on almost 30 acres of picturesque land.

If you are vacationing or just visiting the area, please feel welcome at St. Mary’s. We hope you find your electronic visit informative. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Rev. Donald Cieniewicz
Pastor
